Please reach us at raina@rainamermaid.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We do not currently sell tails, but we have a discount code RAINA10 for tails from www.themertailor.com we also sell children's monofins locally. Please contact us for more information.
We get asked this a lot, and we can occasionally offer discounts for non profits/charities. We typically do have to charge a base fee to cover our out of pocket expenses such as insurance. Our company is expensive to run and we pay our team fair wages. This means we can't usually take "free" work.
We are not hiring. Check out our resources section to find out how you can become a mermaid
Our focus right now is content creation and parenting. We have limited availability for events and bookings but might be able to squeeze you in if you've got something interesting cooked up. Please reach out.
Our rubber costumes are made of medical grade silicone and our fabric tails are made of a neoprene/spandex blend (the same as wetsuits). We do often wear seashells with our costumes so please let us know if we should leave those out due to shell related allergies.
We do travel but we have to charge accordingly for the gas, meals and extra time spent. We won't typically travel hours for a 1 hour booking. Consider that a 1 hour booking turns into 3-4 hours for the team if we have to drive a distance there and back. You can still always contact us for a quote.
We no longer rent or loan out tails.
As of 2023 the following public pools allow mermaid bookings if you book a private event/swim:
Don't see your pool on the list? Let them know you're interested in hosting a mermaid booking and that the mermaids are fully insured and can provide certification. Typically pools only allow these swims if they're private due to liability.
The pool rental is the responsibility of the client in both payment and arrangement.
Pools rentals can be hard to obtain in HRM. We suggest checking the HRM My rec website and/or calling your preferred pool ASAP.
This is something we do on a case by case bases. Ultimately, it's hard for us to secure safety and to be sure the clients get our full attention if the public is involved. If you have access to a home beach, cottage beach or low traffic area, there's a higher chance we can do something like that. You will be responsible for either hiring a lifeguard or waiving liability. Contact us for more information.
For safety and liability concerns most pools do not allow mermaid swimming during high traffic or public times. We encourage you to speak directly with aquatics directors to find out their pool policy before bringing a mermaid tail to a pool.
We offer one on one consulting for adults. We are in the process of getting certified to be able to offer PADI Mermaid Certification for all ages. Our access to this training is currently limited but we will keep the website and social media updates when we are able to provide this. In the meantime, you can access mermaid certification for most ages through Torpedo Rays. You may need to contact them directly for availability.
Yes. We charge tax based on Nova Scotia unless otherwise discussed.
