Raina and her team came 1st in the 2023 Mer-Games hosted in Cozumel Mexico. An annual "match" that sees mermaid instructors and professionals performing fantastic underwater feats and rescue.

For the 7th year in a row Halifax Mermaids have been independently rates one of the top three entertainment businesses.
Raina is the author of the three "Fishy Business" Books. They teach others how to run a similar business and share her mermaid experiences.
Raina and many of her team are certified freedivers. Despite a small lung capacity, Raina can hold her breath for up to 3 minutes. Raina helped form the local Freediving group in Halifax where she served on the board of directors.
Our pod spends lots of time in the water and occasionally get to respectfully meet wild animals. Often they are local to NS but occasionally when we travel we meet others. Raina's favourite was meeting manatees.
Halifax Mermaids have donated appearances over the years to private citizens struggling, to charities related to children and the environment, and to community causes. Raina's favourite is to inspire sick kids, like special people did for her as a child.
Raina was the subject of a documentary that followed her mermaid life for a year and a half.
Our team have performed and consulted on multiple films, tv shows and music videos.
Halifax Mermaids were the first in Canada to run a mermaid swim school and the first in Nova Scotia. The school is currently on hiatus while the team procure PADI training.
A core component of Halifax Mermaids is volunteering on World Ocean's Day, providing free environmental workshops. The team also provide these year round.
